What kinds of organizing projects do you do?

Everyone who contacts Southern Home Organizers has a different project in mind. Some people need help organizing the “stuff” in their homes so they can accomplish all they want to achieve in their life. Many people who call us are entrepreneurs seeking the expertise of a professional organizer so they can get their business on track and fulfill their life purpose. We also assemble teams of the best professional organizers in Atlanta to work on large scale organizing projects and professional unpacking and organizing projects.

Who is your ideal client?

Our ideal client is someone who wants to get organized so they can achieve the most in their 24 hours per day. The majority of our clients are people who are experiencing a high level of success and feel they could accomplish more if they were more organized at home. Our client list includes artists, authors, professional athletes, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, doctors, dentists, Real Estate brokers and agents, CEO’s of Atlanta-based corporations, high level executives and their families, musicians, busy moms, IT professionals, business managers, fashion police, and non-profit owners.

What services do you specialize in?

We specialize in organizing “stuff” – your supplies for living. We first utilize the cabinets, closets, drawers, built-ins, and storage spaces your home already has before we recommend purchasing any new storage containers. Whether you’ve lived in your current home for years or you’re a new resident of Atlanta, we help homeowners organize every area of the home using Best Practice Organizing Principles so you can find what you need and use what you have.

Do you have any training or hold any certifications in organizing or related areas?

As the lead organizer on all Southern Home Organizers’ projects, Melinda Anderson is a Certified Professional Organizer (since 2007) and an Accredited Staging Professional (since 2005). She regularly attends professional conferences and participates in the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals. Melinda was one of the first in the country to receive the designation of Certified Professional Organizer and she received her Home Staging training from two of the leading industry professionals, Christine Rae and Barb Schwarz. Her passion is current organizing trends, health and wellness for homes + people, and is an avid reader of organizing books and blogs about home and health.

Can you describe your organizing process / approach?

New clients often ask if we’ll make them get rid of all their stuff during the organizing process; and the answer is a definite NO. But, allow me to use an analogy… How much water fits in a 12 ounce glass? The answer is 12 ounces of water, any more spills over. And the same holds true of the stuff inside of your cabinets, closets and drawers. Once you max out the space, stuff starts to spill out. We work with you to organize the things you need, use and love – and help you to let go of the items that no longer fit your needs or lifestyle.

How long have you been a part of the organizing and productivity industry?

Melinda Anderson has been helping friends and family members get organized the majority of her adult life, and she has been organizing professionally, full-time, since 2004. Prior to this, Melinda worked in the banking industry for 12 years in a production-based capacity where she learned to maximize efficiency by eliminating unnecessary steps and creating repeatable routines for accomplishing daily tasks as quickly as possible.

How does your fee structure work?

Southern Home Organizers offers two different ways to work with them:

One-on-one with Melinda Anderson is a 6 hour session: $450.

Team of two professional organizers is an 8 hour session: $1000

Teams of 3+ professional organizers is an 8 hour session: $1400+

You may choose to work one-on-one with the organizer to learn organizing skills and techniques and do some of the physical work yourself or, you may choose to utilize the Team of Professional Organizers to quickly get your home organized. The team approach requires less time and physical labor invested on your part and is perfect for busy people with little time to devote to actively participating in the organization of your home.

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash and checks are accepted.

Do you work with a written contract?

Southern Home Organizers does not require you to sign a contract. You can work with us one day at a time or schedule several days to accomplish your project – the choice is yours. When you schedule with us, we promise to arrive on time and ready to work. We bring our tools, supplies, lunch, snacks and drinks and are on-site for the entire time scheduled. We take a short break – a working lunch – about halfway through the day and then get right back to work. As a Certified Professional Organizer and member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals, we abide by the NAPO Code of Ethics as well as the BCPO Code of Ethics.
